DIY 719

The Diy 719

is a Colorado Springs-born, Forza-fueled, "Create-a-Col" cycling challenge.

It's a do-it-yourself version of the 719 Ride, a word-of-mouth, grassroots bicycle event held each July 19 in Colorado Springs.

To Diy:

You complete a 71.9 mile ride with at least 7,190' of climbing.

Anytime. Anywhere. Any route.

On any two-wheeled conveyance you power by yourself and only yourself.

But There is Fine Print.

Don't ride more than 71.99 miles.

Ride outdoors, not on your trainer.

Don't use an electric bike.

Record your ride using a GPS device with an altimeter or barometer.

Don't repeatedly go up and down the same climb like you're Everesting. Range far.

Loops are okay. But the 719 Ride on July 19 doesn't count.

Your Reward

Successful completion of a DIY 719 earns you a lifetime of glory and honor through enrollment into The Severo Society (TSS), an exclusive club of grimpeurs, puncheurs, diesels, mashers, granny gears and bricks united by a love for cycling and a challenge that involves roads that tilt up.

TSS members secure exclusive naming rights for any 7,190' cols they "discover" and may adorn themselves in the garb of the Society.
